Tower of London

Tower of London

We checked out of Marriott at Grosvernor and checked in to the Hilton at
Notting Hill on Dec 1st. They upgrade us to executive suite. Lo went
to the conference for his presentation. I stayed at the hotel business
center, surfing the Hilton website, and planning out our next trip with
the kids. There are so many places to see. About 11:30am, Lo came
back. He had a really good talk. He was happy, relieved. Then, off we
go to the Tower of London.

By the time we got to the Tower of London, it was about 1pm already. Lo
was really hungry, so we had a little meal at KFC. By 1:30p, we were at
the entrance of the Tower, joining the tour. The guide was really
funny. We had a great time. He toured us to the Church, tell us
stories about prisoners at the White Tower, including the innocent
brothers and their uncle Richard III, Elizabeth I's imprisonment, and
quite a few others, which I could not remember. Also, the Traitor's
gate (which was called Watergate originally), Thomas Tower, and the
tower where the crown jewels are kept. Oh, my god, those African
diamond, so huge, so brilliant!!! We then went to the White Tower. A
lot of weaponry display. The toilet and fireplace were eye-opening.
When we saw the King's armors and King's horses, we were thinking about
G. He would have love to come and see the canon, King's armors, castle,
guns, etc. It is his cup of tea, although me and Lo did enjoy it very
much as well. It was getting late, so we rushed to the Wakefield tower,
and see the torture punishment being used in the tower. To be honest,
English did not know what torture meant. What they had is nothing,
compare to the thousands of inhuman ways ancient Chinese devised for the
purpose of torture. We then walked along the water lane, took a few
more picture, walked along the board of Tower bridge, and left the
Tower. Before we ended the evening, we went across the Tower Bridge.
Lo and I had a great time. Dragging our tired body, we went back to
the hotel, and ended our night with a meal in a Singapore restaurant by
the hotel. We had a great soup, Laska. Very good soup. I did more
packing, a bit of IM with G and MLS (who is helping to get the best fare
ticket for our Feb CA trip). By the time I went to bed, it was over 2am
already. We had a wake up call at 4am. Guess what, Lo got the wake up
call, and immediately shut it off. Thank God the hotel called at 4:45a
to tell us the Taxi is already waiting for us. We quickly finished
brushing our teeth, and got down to the hotel. We made it to the
airport alright. But Lo probably would never get the side of the bed
with the phone again.
